Position Goal

Performs journeyman level installation, service and repair to various systems including, but not limited to, electrical distribution, emergency lighting, telephone, street/parking lot lighting, HVAC, security, fire alarms and intercoms.

Position Rate

$27.69 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:* + Installs, alters, maintains and repairs electrical wiring and equipment, both high and low voltage.

+ Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to insure compliance with codes.

+ Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

+ Installs ground leads and connects power cables to equipment, such as motors.

+ Installs conduit and pull wires/cables.

+ Provides preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.

+ Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in wiring, equipment and fixtures using testing devices.

+ Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and codes.

+ Purchases parts and equipment, recommends annual supply requirements.

+ Reads and interprets blueprints and schematic wiring diagrams.
