Electrician - BC-10

JOB Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, electrical and mechanical equipment, and appurtenant fixtures; and performs other related duties as required.

There is one (1) immediate permanent full-time vacancy with the Department of Public Works - Traffic Division in Hilo.

This Electrician, BC-10 position with the Department of Public Works is a career ladder position. The next level in the series is Traffic Electrician, BC-12, $6,542/month. Persons hired into career ladder positions must meet minimum qualifications for the next level in the career ladder series, perform work at the higher level, and meet performance requirements to move to the next level in the career ladder series.

The eligible list may be used for other permanent and temporary vacancies as they arise during the life of the list. Temporary appointment may lead to conversion to permanent appointment.

Working Hours for vacancy with the Department of Public Works: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Special Working Conditions for vacancy with the Department of Public Works: Applicants must be available for stand-by duty and be available for immediate response in cases of emergency (after hours/days off). EXAMPLE OF DUTIES * Installs conduits, transformers, traffic signals, pull boxes, plugs, convenience outlets, and switches. * Rewires buildings. * Installs, maintains, and repairs pumps, motors, and various other types of electrical equipment and apparatus. * Repairs and replaces broken or defective parts in motors, switches, and fixtures. * Locates, tests, and repairs trouble in electrical circuits and equipment. * Replaces fuses and incandescent and fluorescent lights. * Plans electrical installations. * Inspects traffic signal and street lighting systems. * Inspects and makes repairs of switch gears, registers, capacitor banks, power circuits, blowers, generators, and other related electrical equipment. * Makes sketches of pro...
