Assistant Electrician

Somerset County electrical firm with sixty five years of established business, strong reputation and wide client base seeks an electrical assistant to join our team. Project assignments throughout central and northern New Jersey.

The right candidate is a team player who can work collaboratively, is eager to develop skills and grow; gain experience on residential and light commercial projects, troubleshoot electrical issues and support compliance with safety codes. Perform a range of tasks in different settings.

Success in this role includes attention to detail, a respectful and personable manner for our clientele, some experience is a plus. Punctuality is a must.

• System Installation: Assist in laying wires, bending electrical conduit (pipe), and installing junction boxes.
• Hardware Mounting: Mount and install switchboards, panel boards, light fixtures, outlets, and switches.
• Testing and Troubleshooting: Learn to use multimeters and test equipment to trace short circuits, diagnose electrical faults, and verify circuit continuity.
• Site Support: Transport tools and materials, clean work areas, and dig trenches for underground conduit.
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive bending, work in uncomfortable positions, and lift/move up to 50 lbs.
• Soft Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, and a willingness to follow directions and ask questions.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
