POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Signal Electrician to join our team. This position involves performing skilled electrical work related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signal systems throughout Mercer County. The Senior Traffic Signal Electrician will serve as a lead technician, providing direction to other electricians and ensuring all traffic control systems operate safely and efficiently.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrician to advance in the public sector while contributing to the safety and reliability of the County's transportation network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems, including conduits, cables, signal heads, and electronic control components.
• Plan and execute complex electrical wiring and cable hookups for traffic control devices.
• Install, calibrate, and maintain traffic signal controllers, radar detection equipment, and flashing beacons.
• Erect, repair, and maintain automatic and manual traffic signals and timing mechanisms.
• Conduct bench testing and preventive maintenance of traffic control equipment.
• Operate vehicles and equipment required for traffic signal work.
• Lead, assign, and instruct other traffic signal electricians and maintenance staff.
• Inspect, store, and maintain tools, materials, and supplies necessary for electrical operations.
