Marine Electrician

Position Summary

St. Johns Ship Building, Inc. is seeking a skilled Marine Electrician to support the construction, repair, maintenance, and testing of marine electrical systems aboard aluminum and steel vessels. The Marine Electrician will install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components and systems in accordance with shipyard standards, customer specifications, and applicable marine regulations.

This position requires experience working in industrial and marine environments, the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair marine electrical systems aboard vessels and within shipyard facilities. * Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. * Install and terminate electrical cables, conduits, panels, breakers, transformers, motors, lighting systems, and control systems. * Perform testing and diagnostics on electrical systems using meters and other testing equipment. * Troubleshoot electrical issues involving power distribution, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, alarms, and communication systems. * Assist with startup, commissioning, and operational testing of vessel electrical systems. * Ensure all work complies with company quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable electrical codes and marine regulations. * Work closely with supervisors, engineers, welders, ship fitters, and other trades to complete projects on schedule. * Maintain clean and organized work areas while following all safety procedures. * Perform work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying outdoor weather conditions. * Support shipyard production schedules and overtime requirements as needed.
