JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB GOAL

To provide leadership and skilled work at or above the journeyman level of the trade. Perform skilled work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited high school or trade school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Five (5) years of experience as an electrician. Three (3) years preferred as a foreman or in a supervisory capacity. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
• Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of the standard and codes, methods, tools, and materials associated with the electrical trade. Knowledge of the principals and theories of electricity. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions of the trade. Ability to plan and prioritize work and assign duties. Ability to estimate time and materials for jobs. Ability to install, alter, upgrade, repair, maintain, and locate defects in a variety of electrical equipment and systems. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to make decisions in emergency situations. Ability to interpret and work from technical sketches, blueprints, and service manuals. Skilled in the use and care of standard tools and equipment used in the electrical trade. Ability to work at various heights to complete necessary jobs. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
