Fort Myers, FL, US$58,240-$72,800Posted 2 months ago

Job Description

Experienced Residential & Commercial Electrician

Southern Power Electric

is actively seeking a highly experienced Residential & Commercial Electrician to join our growing team.

This is NOT an entry-level position.

We are looking for someone who can arrive on the jobsite, understand the scope of work, and complete projects with little to no supervision. If you require extensive training or constant direction, this position is not the right fit.

Our ideal candidate has years of hands-on field experience, takes pride in producing clean, professional work, and understands how to represent the company with professionalism when interacting with customers, builders, inspectors, and other trades.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform residential and commercial electrical installations from rough-in through final trim.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical plans, and specifications.
  • Install panels, breakers, feeders, branch circuits, lighting, receptacles, switches, GFCIs, AFCIs, low-voltage systems, and electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently and accurately.
  • Complete service work, remodels, additions, tenant build-outs, and new construction.
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC requirements and local electrical codes.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and office staff.
  • Manage time effectively and complete work without constant oversight.
  • Mentor apprentices when needed while maintaining productivity.

Qualifications

Previous residential and commercial electrical experience is REQUIRED.

Applicants should possess the following

  • Minimum 5+ years of verifiable electrical experience (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of both residential and commercial electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently without ongoing supervision.
  • Experience with new construction, remodels, and service work.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of current National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening if required.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Own basic hand tools.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional.

This Position Is NOT For Someone Who

  • Is looking to learn the electrical trade from the ground up.
  • Requires constant instruction throughout the day.
  • Has only helper or apprentice experience.
  • Is unable to work independently.
  • Has experience only in one area of electrical work and is not comfortable working in both residential and commercial environments.

What We're Looking For

We value electricians who

  • Show up on time every day.
  • Take ownership of their work.
  • Produce clean, code-compliant installations.
  • Solve problems instead of waiting for someone else to do it.
  • Communicate professionally.
  • Treat every customer's home or business with respect.
  • Take pride in doing the job right the first time.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • Consistent, year-round work.
  • Opportunities for advancement.
  • Company vehicle (for qualified employees, if applicable).
  • Paid holidays and paid time off (if applicable).
  • Professional work environment.
  • A team that values quality workmanship over cutting corners.

Important

We are hiring an experienced electrician—not an apprentice or helper. We do not have the capacity to provide basic electrical training for this position. Please apply only if you have substantial residential and commercial electrical experience and are confident working independently from the start.

If you're an experienced electrician who takes pride in your craftsmanship and wants to be part of a company that values quality, professionalism, and accountability, we'd love to hear from you.
