(Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $180.00 bi-weekly.)

This position is selected for the Hiring Incentive Program. The incentive shall be in the amount of three thousand dollars ($3000.00) upon completion of the probationary period. The hiring incentive will be paid (if funds are available) by the Department/Division which appoints the applicant. The hiring incentive is not available to current City employees.

Incumbents in this position are responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining electrical system components, fixtures and lines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Repairs and replaces electrical circuits, fixtures, lamps, motors, street light starters, switches, wires and other electrical equipment.

• Diagnoses electrical systems and component operating problems. May operate bucket trucks to access wires, lamps and other electrical components above ground.
• Stocks trucks and ensures equipment and supplies are available to complete work.
• Responds to emergencies as paged.
• May participate in on-call rotation.
• Climbs /works from ladders and scaffolds.
• Lifts up to 50 pounds.
• Pulls wire.
• Performs work above head/below the knees.
• Works in confined spaces, such as manholes and switch cubicles.
• Works in basket truck and boom truck.
• Digs ditches and trenches.
• Reads blueprints / schematics.
• Installs conduits.
• Slices/ terminates cables.
• Wears / uses a variety of safety equipment, such as hard hats, protective gloves, safety belts and harnesses, respirators (both dust and vapor), protective glasses, etc.
