Position Summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Electrician 2 to join our Facility Services team. In this essential role, you’ll help power the campus by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems that support learning, research, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

As an Electrician 2, you will: Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls, motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers. Lay out and install new electrical secondary service including panels, breakers, disconnects, and switches. Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective parts such as brushes and armatures. Install and maintain motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers. Interpret blueprints and work from sketches or verbal instructions. Install grounding leads and ensure compliance with safety and electrical codes. Use diagnostic tools to test and repair circuits, equipment, and appliances. Perform inspections and monitor performance of installed electrical systems. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Because this is a pooled position posting it may require you to work in the Health Sciences Center (HSC) area of UNM. This means you will be working in medical laboratory research, medical clinical, and medical academic spaces. These HSC environments may require the donning of medically approved personal protective equipment (PPE).
