JOB DESCRIPTION

**Extensive fire alarm experience a plus

JOB TITLE: Operations – Electrician

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

JOB GOAL: To assist in maintaining District facilities and structures by providing

excellent specialized maintenance services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Five (5) years experience in the designated trade/skill area or a combination of

training/experience

• Experience in school facility maintenance preferred
• Possess and maintain appropriate State or National card, certification, or licensure

for the assigned trade or skill area

• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
• Meet Hoover City Schools' insurable driver requirements
• Demonstrated skills using standard tools, materials, methods, and practices of the

assigned trade or skill area

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the specific trades
• Ability to read, interpret and/or follow plans, directions, and specifications
• Ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to make estimates of time and material needed for efficient project

completion

• Ability to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders, and heights
• Ability to engage in prolonged sitting or standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling,

bending, turning, and reaching

* Strength and agility to lift and carry objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds; ability

to exert up to seventy-five (75) pounds of force

• Ability to work in locations involving heights or confined spaces
• Ability and willingness to work indoors and outdoors year-round in noisy, crowded

environments, in various temperatures and weather conditions

• Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays if necessary
• Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999

and Act No. 2002-457
