JOB DESCRIPTION

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the installation of electrical frameworks, as well as the detection and correction of faults in existing electrical systems . Under general supervision, works as a team with other maintenance personnel to keep the school and central office facilities in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems/interruptions to the educational programs, especially comfortable classrooms, facilities, and safe equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ready to begin work at appointed hour

· Maintain a safe work environment

· Adhere to all BCS policies, procedures and guidelines and report any violations of policies, procedures, or guidelines to immediate supervisor

· Use ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and lifts necessary to work on electrical systems

· Maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment to ensure conditions and to be certain they are handled safely

· Willingness to answer emergency and after hour calls if conditions warrant

· Maintain excellent customer service skills with coworkers and staff to promote efficiency

· Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Active State of Alabama/City of Birmingham Journeyman Electrical Certificate.

· Ability to repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring, or devices as needed.

· A minimum of one year of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various types of fire alarm controls and sensing equipment.

· Ability to install and maintain energy conservation controls and lighting control equipment.
