POSITION TITLE: Journeyman Electrician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, and equipment for the District, including kitchen equipment. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in District facilities.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

* Maintain, assemble or install, and diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of electrical equipment and systems following established procedures.

* Help or assist in daily tasks as directed by the Lead Technician and or Electrical Supervisor.

* Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established procedures.

* Receive and complete work orders, maintaining accurate records on material and labor used.

* Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.

* Maintain inventory of District-owned tools, equipment, and materials.

* Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.

* Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.

* Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.

* Assist other crafts to complete surveys, projects and repairs of all District facilities.

* Maintain, repair or assist with repairs on dishwashers, vent hoods and kitchen equipment.

* Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.

* Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.

* Inspect tools, vehicle and equipment for safety, efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.

* Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
