Job Description

# Journeyman Electrician — Commercial

## Big Ant Electrical | Houston/Harris County, Surrounding Area | Full-Time

---

Big Ant Electrical

is a licensed commercial electrical contractor (TECL 37731) based in the greater Houston area. We work on large-scale commercial new construction and specialty projects — self-storage facilities, government infrastructure, lift stations, and more. We do the work right the first time, and we take care of our people. We are currently expanding and looking for a skilled Journeyman Electrician who can execute commercial electrical work at a high level and take ownership of their scope every day.

This is not a babysitting role. You will be paired with an apprentice and expected to lead your pair, hit production, and communicate clearly. If you need someone to hold your hand on a job site, this is not the right fit.

---

## What You Will Be Doing

You will be in the field executing commercial electrical work alongside your apprentice. Specifically:

- Install conduit systems (EMT, rigid, PVC) — bending, racking, and running

- Pull wire and terminate devices, panels, and equipment

- Read and work from commercial drawing sets — power plans, lighting plans, one-lines, and panel schedules

- Install panelboards, disconnects, lighting fixtures, and specialty devices

- Work on 480/277V and 208/120V distribution systems

- Coordinate with the General Foreman on daily tasks, scope, and production

- Mentor and direct your apprentice on safe, efficient work practices

- Complete daily reports and maintain a clean, safe job site

---

## What We Require

These are not suggestions. If you do not meet these requirements, please do not apply.

- Texas Journeyman Electrician License (TDLR) — required, no exceptions

- Minimum 4 years of commercial electrical field experience

- Demonstrated experience working from full commercial drawing sets

- Experience with 480V and 208V systems, conduit bending (EMT, rigid, PVC), and wire pulling

- Ability to work independently and direct an apprentice without supervision

- Reliable transportation — you must be able to report to job sites in the Houston/Harris County area on time, every day

- Clean background — we run checks

---

## What We Offer

- $37.00 – $42.00 per hour depending on experience — straight time, paid weekly

- 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week — consistent, full-time schedule

- Active commercial projects — you will not be sitting around waiting for work

- A direct working relationship with the owner — no corporate layers, no politics

- Opportunity to grow with a company that is winning work and building a reputation

---

## How to Apply — Read This Carefully

We screen every applicant before scheduling an interview. To be considered, your application must include the following:

1. Your resume — list every commercial project you have run as a journeyman, including project type, size, and your specific role

2. Your TDLR license number — include it in your resume or cover message. Applications without a verifiable license number will not be reviewed

3. Answer this question (2–3 sentences, in your own words): *"Walk me through how you would rough-in a 200A panelboard from a 480V distribution panel — what conduit, wire size, and steps would you take?"*

Applications that do not include all three items above will not receive a response.
