Barbe Electric Co. LLC

Journeyman Electrician

Lufkin, TX, US$52,000-$72,800Posted 3 months ago

Job Description

You’re a good electrician. You already know it.

Your work is clean. Your conduit looks right. You can troubleshoot faster than most people can explain the problem. You’ve trained helpers, carried jobs, fixed mistakes that weren’t yours, and probably saved your current shop more money and headaches than they realize.

But somewhere along the way, the work stopped feeling like growth.

Maybe you’re tired of being sent into chaos with half the information and none of the support. Maybe leadership talks about “moving up,” but nobody has ever shown you what that actually looks like. Maybe you’re the person everyone calls when things go sideways, but your pay hasn’t caught up with the responsibility. Maybe the shop has plateaued — not enough good work, too much drama, or too many people who don’t take pride in the trade. Or maybe you’re just ready to be somewhere your skill actually gets noticed.

If any of that sounds familiar, keep reading.

We’re Matt and Callie Barbe. We run Barbe Electric Co. out of Lufkin, Texas, and we’re building the kind of shop we always wished we worked at. The kind where good electricians are respected, the work is steady and varied, and the people who carry weight have a real path forward.

We’re growing fast, and we need a strong journeyman electrician to grow with us.

What you’ll actually get here

Pay that respects your skill.

Competitive journeyman pay based on experience, reliability, and what you can actually do in the field. If you can run work, solve problems, and help make the team better, we want to talk.

A paycheck that goes further.

Lufkin’s cost of living is lower than the big cities. That means more house, less traffic, and more life outside of work. For the right person, we’re open to helping with relocation to make the move easier.

A career runway, not a dead end.

We’re scaling. That means real opportunity for the right journeyman to move into lead roles, run crews, train apprentices, help shape field standards, and grow with the company instead of waiting around for someone to retire.

Work that keeps you sharp.

We’re not doing the same boring job over and over. Commercial, residential, generators, service work, remodels, new construction, and projects across Lufkin and the surrounding region. You’ll use your brain, your tools, and your experience.

A direct line to ownership.

You’ll work with Matt and Callie, not three layers of management who have never been in the field. If there’s a better way to do the work, improve the schedule, organize the truck, train the team, or take care of customers, we want to hear it.

A culture you can feel.

We work hard, joke harder, and take care of the people who carry weight. The trade is hard enough. You shouldn’t also have to fight to be respected for doing good work.

This is a fit if you...

  • Have a valid journeyman electrician license
  • Take pride in clean, code-compliant work
  • Can troubleshoot, read plans, and think ahead
  • Show up when you say you will
  • Communicate well with customers, coworkers, and leadership
  • Can work independently but still be part of a team
  • Want to help build something, not just clock in

This isn’t a fit if you...

  • Need someone watching you all day to stay productive
  • Cut corners and hope nobody notices
  • Don’t take feedback well
  • Bring drama everywhere you go
  • Are looking for a place to coast until retirement

How to apply

Hit Apply and send a short note. Three or four sentences is plenty:

  • Who you are and where you’re working now
  • What kind of electrical work you’re strongest in
  • What’s not working about your current seat
  • What you’d want to be doing three years from now

That’s it. No résumé gymnastics on the first round. If we see a fit, we’ll come back to you within 48 hours and take it from there.
