Charging Ahead with Automation & Electronics

For nearly 70 years, A&E has kept the lights on and the lines running for commercial and industrial clients across the country. What started in 1956 as a small Wyoming electrical shop has grown into a multi-state design-and-build contractor serving oil & gas, power generation, renewables, water/wastewater, chemical, mining, and data center clients — without losing the hands-on, do-it-right culture that built our reputation. Our crews work alongside licensed professional engineers and certified electricians, so every job gets done safely, on code, and built to last.

The Position

This position functions as a Journeyman Electrician for A&E, installing power distribution and electrical systems for commercial and industrial projects in and around our Hempstead, TX location while maintaining compliance with national, state, and local electrical codes along with all A&E policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test electrical systems for commercial and industrial projects — from raceway and conduit (EMT, GRC, FMC) through wire pull, terminations, and dielectric testing
  • Read and execute work from electrical drawings, panel schedules, and specifications
  • Install and wire gear, switchgear, panelboards, and motor control equipment
  • Work safely in Class I Division 2 and other hazardous/industrial environments as assigned
  • Keep schedule and quality on track through clear communication with foremen and crew, and full compliance with A&E safety policy

Qualifications

  • Current Texas State Journeyman Electrician License (required), with solid working knowledge of NEC code
  • Hands-on experience installing and verifying power distribution, lighting, and related systems in commercial/industrial settings
  • Reliable transportation to the Hempstead, TX job site
  • Clean safety record, able to pass a background check and drug screen

Skills & Qualities

  • Sharp troubleshooting instincts backed by sound electrical judgment in the field
  • Equally comfortable working solo on a task or pulling weight as part of a crew
  • Dependable and punctual, with the discipline to keep pace on a tight schedule
  • Detail-oriented on terminations and testing, with safety always front of mind
  • Open to mentoring apprentices and helpers coming up through the trade

What We Offer

  • Livable wages and paid benefits starting $38.50/hr
  • Paid Medical, Vision, and Dental for you and your family.
  • Multiple pensions and a 401K plan paid by Company.
  • Total package equivalent of $48.96/hr
  • Steady, full-time work on commercial and industrial projects
  • Overtime and Double time opportunities, including premium rates for evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Paid holidays and vacation package included
  • Supportive crew environment under experienced leadership
  • Basic PPE provided per project; bring your own hand tools
  • Double time paid on any hours worked on Sundays or Holidays

Field Conditions & Requirements

  • Comfortable on ladders, scaffolding, man lifts, and reach booms — climbing, balancing, and working at height without hesitation
  • Capable of standing, walking, kneeling, crawling, and reaching overhead repetitively through the shift, including lifting and pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Full use of hands, arms, and fingers for handling cable, wire, and tools in tight or awkward positions
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather, and in noisy, cramped, or dirty conditions typical of an active job site
  • Comfortable with on-site hazards including electrical shock risk
  • Standard 40-hour week, with overtime, nights, or weekends possible as projects demand
