This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Plains Area (PA), National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF), Facilities Operation and Management unit in Manhattan, Kansas.

In this position, you will serve as the supervisor over a staff responsible for the maintenance, repair, renovations, and alterations on electrical systems and equipment supplying NBAF.

Duties

----------

• Operate electrical distribution systems including installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, testing, and loading new and existing electrical systems, equipment and their components.
• Perform maintenance and repair electrically operated laboratory equipment.
• Apply knowledge of wire size, type and arrangement for proper and safe operation of electrical systems.
• Use trade formulas to calculate common properties, such as, voltage or voltage drop and current capability in series and parallel circuits, resistance, inductance, capacitance, and power factors.
• Interpret building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the work.
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, distribution circuits and controlling equipment to locate and correct the cause of outages and improper operation.
