JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB GOAL

To provide skilled work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited high school or trade school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Four (4) years’ experience as an electrician, journeyman preferred. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
• Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of the standard and codes, methods, tools, and materials associated with the electrical trade. Knowledge of the principals and theories of electricity. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions of the trade. Ability to install, alter, upgrade, repair, maintain, and locate defects in a variety of electrical equipment and systems. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to interpret and work from technical sketches, blueprints, and service manuals. Skilled in the use and care of standard tools and equipment used in the electrical trade. Ability to work at various heights to complete necessary jobs. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and repair electrical equipment and appliances.
• Repair or replace electrical motors, controllers, switchboard panels, and lights.
• Locate and correct power failures and motor trouble on electrically operated machinery and apparatus.
• Set transformers and poles.
• Install electrical additions and alterations, as required.
• Work with blueprints and service manuals.
• Maintain records of daily work and record accurate time and payroll in...
