About the Opportunity

This position is responsible for interior and exterior electrical construction and maintenance of all campus buildings, fire alarm systems, data and telephone wiring, HVAC controls wiring and exterior fixtures at Cedar Crest College. Employees of Cedar Crest College must possess excellent customer service skills and have an overall concern for the general welfare and safety of the college and community.

Cedar Crest College's Facilities Department has overall responsibility to provide the best possible environment for education and student living.

• This job requires the use of specialized and power equipment
• Obey all safety requirements and procedures at all times
• Perform preventative maintenance checks on all equipment prior to use
• Secure the work area and post proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work
• Supply own trade tools
• Campus supplied vehicle is supplied. If no vehicle is available and you have to use your own transportation, mileage on campus is reimbursed.
• Equipment trouble-shooting
• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance
• Establish work priorities
• Complete and fill-out work orders
• Respond to on-call and after-hours emergencies
• Installation and repair of electrical circuits, equipment and systems
• Installation and repair of lighting systems including sensors, fixtures and programming
• Installation of data wiring
• Installation and maintenance of exterior lighting and conduit, including parking lot lights
• Assist HVAC staff in wiring controls
• Position is considered “essential personnel” and is required to provide various duties and maintenance services during and outside normal working hours and during institution closures; and duties associated with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled events
