Position Purpose

Maintains equipment assigned to the Equipment Department and may be called upon to perform other duties in cases of emergency and be assigned other tasks requiring equal or less skill. This is a journeyman position. After initial orientation and guidance, individuals are expected to fully meet the qualifications listed below, and will be fully responsible for the correct completion of the work assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Performs preventive maintenance, diagnoses equipment malfunction and makes appropriate repairs and overhauls heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

* The individual is responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of the relay and microprocessor control systems, charging the refrigerant system, and maintenance and repair of drive motors, compressor and refrigerant containing components.

* This individual will be assigned general transit car electrical maintenance and repair duties when required.
