Commercial Electrician

Position Summary

The Commercial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in commercial facilities. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical codes, safety procedures, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects safely, efficiently, and with high-quality workmanship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Install electrical systems in commercial buildings according to blueprints, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Bend and install conduit (EMT, PVC, rigid, and flexible conduit).
• Pull wire and terminate electrical equipment and devices.
• Install panels, transformers, switchgear, lighting systems, receptacles, and controls.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
• Perform preventative maintenance and service work.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.
• Use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and measuring devices safely and effectively.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and other trades.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Complete daily paperwork, timekeeping, and job documentation as required.
• Attend safety meetings and required training.
• Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial electrical experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred.
• Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed.
