Tram Electrical Technician

Overview: Summary

Under general direction of the Director of Maintenance & Operations, monitors electrical systems and performs tasks or tests which range from simple and routine to more complex assignments. May provide limited guidance to less experienced technicians. The Electrical Technician shall practice good housekeeping, with particular emphasis on avoiding the development of any condition that might contribute to personal injury. Shall comply with the operational rules and regulations of the Mount Roberts Tramway.

Qualifications: Necessary Skills and Knowledge* Ability to physically climb out of the tramway cabin under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Operations. * Ability to physically rope evacuate passengers and self from cabin. * Ability to read and interpret tramway schematics and lift blueprints, manuals, and warranty requirements. * General knowledge of mechanics, electrical controls, hydraulics, wire-ropes, and preventative maintenance procedures of aerial lifts or tramways. * Working knowledge/familiarity of tram operations systems. * Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees. * Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis. * Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to passengers those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc. * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Good analytical skills. * Basic computer skills using Word, Excel, and E-mail. * Good customer service skills. * Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical operating problems related to the facility and its equipment. * Good working knowledge of common industry practices and considerations, maintenance and repair requirements and applicable building, ANSI, OSHA, NEC and health codes.
