Position Information Position Title Systems Trades Electrician

Job Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Building Trades Supervisor and is responsible for all types of interior and exterior electrical work on campus, including work on power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems.

DUTIES

ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: * Install, modify, and repair wiring and other components for interior and exterior power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and security systems. * Troubleshoot problems with power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and security systems. * Complete work order documentation upon completion of work. * Initiate requests for necessary parts and supplies. * Maintain orderly storage of tools, materials, and equipment. * Clean shop areas as needed. * Be available for emergency night calls. * Be available for overtime and weekend scheduled events. * Assume all other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor, including some maintenance duties outside of speciality.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS:* Must have the ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings, product instructions and cautions, work orders and work safety procedures. * Must have the ability to use hand and power electrician tools and meters. * Must have the ability to lift 80-lbs. * Must have the ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms. * Must have the ability to understand and follow instructions given by the supervisor. * Must have the ability to communicate using a portable radio.

PERSONAL

INTERACTION: Daily contact is required with the Building Trades Supervisor concerning scheduled and unscheduled activities. Frequent interaction is required with coworkers and with faculty, students, and staff who use campus facilities.

Required Qualifications

3 years prior professional electrical experience. Up to 1 year of electrical vocational training may substitute for the same length of work experience. Work history showing dependability and strong work ethic. Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Commercial or institutional electrical work experience. Professional work experience with 3-phase power systems.

Salary

The wage for this position starts at $18.94 hourly.
