Service Journeyman Electrician

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems in residential and light commercial settings.
• Perform service work including: electrical troubleshooting and repairs, panel and service upgrades, breaker replacements, outlet, switch, and lighting repairs/installations, dedicated circuits and equipment wiring, generator, EV charger, and specialty equipment installations.
• Identify electrical hazards and recommend safe, effective solutions to customers.
• Read and interpret electrical plans, wiring diagrams, and service documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with NEC, state, and local electrical codes.
• Complete testing and inspections to verify safety and proper operation of systems.
• Communicate professionally with customers and clearly explain issues, repair options, and completed work.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time logs.
• Operate independently on service calls while maintaining productivity and professionalism.
• Support and mentor apprentices when needed.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• License: Valid Journeyman Electrician License in Iowa.
• Experience: Four years experience as a lead Journeyman Electrician preferably in residential and service electrical work.
• Code Knowledge: Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
