Position Summary

The Electrician, under general direction and/or using detailed procedures and/or work instructions, safely performs standard and routine, as well as some non-routine tasks or tests within, but not necessarily limited to, the area of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. The Electrician primarily works independently on preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration activities.

Responsibilities

• Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, hazardous gas monitors, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
• Replacing electronic components, wiring circuits, and repairing simple electronic equipment.
• Installing, repairing, or splicing communication, electrical, or data cabling.
• Installing, repairing, or calibrating indicating, recording, telemetering, and controlling instruments to measure and control variables using hand tools and precision instruments such as potentiometer, resistance bridge, etc.
• Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating, and diagnosing trouble in the standardized electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of basic wiring or electrical equipment.
